To be in love
with you
Is a gift beyond account
To tabulate my
fortunes
Defies notions of
amount
Because in daily
life the living
Grateful
celebration is most due
And every
moment’s beauty is
A lovely
testament to you
For in your very
being
The most precious
partner does define
So may I humbly
ask, again
If you’ll be my
Valentine?
Love,
-Smitty

Good morning darling
And how are you today?
Did you know what were my thoughts
Last night while soft by me you lay?
And as you there were sleeping
Warm
and safe and curled
Innocent of knowledge that
To me you are my world?
And for daily what you gift me
The colors you reveal
A
companion so remarkable...
The gratitude I feel?
For to look at you is beauty
Stunning
is your face to see
So one more question darling:
If I, today, your love smote Valentine can be?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
2019
Darling you are
beautiful
Beyond the realm
of page and pen
And how much do I
love you
Would take
infinity and then
From there only a
start
A mere beginning yet
to see
The unbounded gratitude I feel
For the happiness
you brought me
And for the charmed
fates
From where every
funnest moon was gifted
For every kiss,
caress, embrace
And the tight
dresses that you lifted
In most humble
supplication
I write again the
line:
Will you, lovely,
Kristi
Be my Valentine?

Valentine’s
is here
How fast
another year
And
remarkable that yet
Each one, more beautiful you get
And so, when I ask you to be
A
Valentine to me
And that your answer still
Is yes baby, that you will
Deep gratitude now, and for
before
And every
year I love you more.

You attract me
like a magnate
You arrest me
like a cop.
I’m stuck to you
with love super glue
A smitten,
supersonic satellite, I orbit you nonstop.
You’re the lofty
angel lighthouse towering
Alongside you the
other girl’s lovelights are but a spark,
Like awkward
flightless dodos
They crane
forlorn longing looks up at you…the soaring lark.
So take me again
on your winging love flight
Let your beauty
beacon shine
Blast away the
dreary shadows of my life
And make me your
happy Valentine.
From the instant I
first you,
Or
when we finally kissed and I brushed your breast,
Too proud and
ignorant I was,
To
understand, let alone confess,
That I loved you
then.
Through all the
music, movies, and the miles,
And
a dark country road, a place to park,
Or a rare motel’s
giddy luxury,
And
the discoveries we made there in the dark,
I knew I loved you
then.
And everyday I
kissed your photo,
When
we were forced to be apart,
But an image
cannot bind your beauty,
Nor
ever could my heart,
So much I loved
you then.
And when you made
our perfect babies,
And
a Mother you’d become,
Through the dreams
you dreamt for all us,
You
made us better, everyone.
Oh how I loved you
then.
Through the
stories that we made up,
And
those we’ve yet to comprehend,
And the one’s we
are still working on,
And
those we’ll never end.
You know I always
loved you then.
Love’s not a
standard measure,
Or
a switch that’s off or on,
It’s a universe
unto itself,
Expanding
ever onwards and beyond,
That’s why I write
to say,
My
lover, my best friend,
I love you more each moment,
Then
I loved you then.
I Love You,
Happy
Valentine’s Day, ’08.

You are as tender as a petal,
Borne on an evening’s gentle breeze.
You’re as complex as a crystal,
No incantation can unlock your mysteries.
And appetites so heated,
The sun you could consume.
Even the drenching torrents of your passion
Cannot quench that torrid plume.
And your beauty,
Could make a sunset weep .
For all eternity,
You’ll have my love to keep.
I love
you.
Happy Valentine’s Day ’07

We
drink our wine in little bottles,
On uncharted paths of discovery.
Maps used only for the clues they
hold,
Craving no solution to the
mystery.
The
journey’s made to be together,
And to avoid the route direct,
With destination not the object,
It’s boring to predict.
Endured a detour
once or twice,
And
at times our way have lost.
But the voyage someway redeems
us,
To split the trail too high a
cost.
Further we keep pressing,
And on the back roads we’ll
remain.
Making up the directions as we
go,
The way apparent we’ll disdain.
We’ve found a lot of unsought
treasure,
Yet have nothing tangible to
boast.
Save for this swag of memories,
And those miles with little
bottles that we toast.
So my intrepid
friend explorer and nomad lover,
There’s
only one promise I have left to make:
The road won’t be straight or
certain,
But there’ll be seductive curves
ahead to take.
HAPPY
VALENTINE’S DAY ‘10
I love
you.-Smitty.

You are frightening and alarming,
But I don’t mean
like no Frankenstein.
I’m saying you are scarily adorable,
A spooky cute Valentine.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY 2010

Dad.

Valentine’s Day Pink
At
work last night I was seduced
By
papers of Valentine’s Day pink.
As
I seized with haste twenty-five or so,
How
many will I need, I paused to think.
Could
I wish for twenty-five,
Or
would it be greed to hope for ten?
How
soon will fate find one of us?
Or,
instead, maybe even then,
Would
I find myself one day
Destroying
them in grief?
Because
another had captured your heart,
My
love a victim of some thief.
So
I must focus on our moments,
And
devote each precious second now to savor,
To
appreciate the love I’ve found
My
unworthy destiny’s unfathomable favor.
For
the years, well,
They
flicker by like Valentine’s Day pink pages.
But
I’ve the fortune to have had,
A
love that’s for the ages
2012
How can
you be so beautiful
How
can that be every day
And how
can you be so lovely
And
how many times can I say
That you
look wonderful
And
it still be the truth I declare
And how
many times can I say I love you
And
with each repetition find no less love accrued there
And how
many times can I be foolish
Be distracted, impatient, and brief
Losing
precious moments with you
Their
wanton waste one day my sure grief.
And how
many times will I be distant
Push
you away really when
If I were
honest I’d realize
That
I only needed you even more just then
And how
many times can I say I’m sorry
For
not knowing my own good grace
To be
favored with sharing these instants
I
well be chastised for the fortune of just seeing your face
And how
many times can I deceive myself into failure
And
promise myself to do better next time
And how
can I be so unworthy
To
ask you to be my Valentine?
Love,
Valentines
Day 2012
2013
I Can’t Love You Any More
All
things have their limit,
Or
so I think I’ve found.
Border
or an edge,
There
will always be a bound.
My
hands,
Can
only grasp so much,
My
fingers,
All
things cannot touch.
My
eyes will only
See,
That
which is revealed to
Me.
My
senses,
Likewise
are constrained,
My
thoughts,
All
hostage to my brain.
My
spirit,
And
my soul,
May
be large,
But
still a whole.
The
infinity of space
And
time,
I
can’t extend
Beyond
my mind.
My
heart too,
Must
have no door,
Because
I couldn’t
Love
you any more.
Happy
Valentine’s Day.
I
love you,
2/11/14
You You
With
you
Near you
Close to
Just you
Being
With you
Seeing
Cute you
Driving
And you
Arriving
Proud you
Having fun
With you
Only one
Is you
Parting lips
On you
Tingling tips
Have you
Sensual treasure
Gift you
Carnal pleasure
Share you
Lovely face
Is you
Abundant Grace
Have you
Lonely grief
No you
Great relief
Return you
This man
Loves you
His plan
Would you
Valentine
Please you
Be mine
Will you?

2020:
It can’t be measured
Can’t be weighed
It
can’t be sung
And surely can’t be said
It defies all theory
Or the plotting on a chart
And far exceeds the boundaries
Of this captive heart
And
indeed, no genius could imagine
Nor mystic could divine
The horizons of my love for you
Please be my Valentine?

2022:
Valentine’s Day…
And
I could not love you more
Then
on every other day
That
came our way before
And
still, yet love expanding
No
edges to contain
Defying
known dimension
To
fathom or explain
And what then of tomorrow
As surely it will grow
And the hope that there’ll be
many -
To ends I’ll never know
I love you so much
-Smitty
2022
If
there ever was more love to give
Than what I feel for you
Surely that heart must most
lucky be
And like mine, grateful for it
too
But still I can’t imagine
Another vessel could contain
The feelings my heart holds for
you
Words are too feeble to explain
So if there’s one that’s more
in love than I
Then the universe is very wide
But still not large enough to
grasp
The love this heart holds for
you inside
Happy Valentines Day,
I love you.
